MH Ross Advantage Asset, underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, is pretty good travel insurance. Although it provides more travel benefits than the Basic Travel Insurance from Travelex, it does not offer the generous level of benefits provided by TravelSafe Vacation Plan from TravelSafe Insurance, CSA Travel Protection, Custom, or the Comprehensive Class Plan from Global Travel Shield.
MH Ross pays to cover any non-refundable and unused prepaid expenses if the trip must be canceled due to the death of the insured, traveling companion, business partner or family member. After the trip is underway, the travel insurance policy pays benefits if the trip is interrupted due to death, sickness or injury. It also pays benefits in case a trip is delayed or in case of a missed connection.
This travel insurance pays benefits in more varieties of medical situations than any of the other polices that we reviewed:

- Common carrier accidental death and dismemberment
The policy also provides a benefit that no competitor in our travel insurance review offers: 24-hour accidental death and dismemberment, which means that injuries and deaths that occur at any time during the trip can be compensated for. By way of contrast, the competitors only offer accidental death and dismemberment benefits should the accident occur while en route with a common carrier.
One travel insurance option, if purchased at least 15 days prior to the trip date, provides a refund of 75 percent (up to $10,000) up until 48 hours prior to the trip date. In addition to a means of canceling prior to departure, customers benefit from a number of other help and support services. From within the United States and Canada, toll-free access to the 24-hour service center is available. For customers who are outside of the United States and Canada, the vendor accepts collect calls.
Customers have access to concierge services, including:
- Golf course recommendations
- Local transportation reservations
- Restaurants, shopping and hotel information and reservations
- Tracking and assistance with lost or delayed baggage
Business services are another way in which the vendor supports insurance-policy holders, including:
- Assistance with locating internet cafes, overnight delivery sites, copy and print services
- Assistance with telephone and web conferencing
- Emergency business communications
- Weather information, travel delays and flight status
- Worldwide business directory for equipment repairs and warranty service
