SafeGuard Vision Insurance Review

SafeGuard covered insurance for organizations in California, Texas and Florida. Based on their website we found they offered policies for dental insurance, life insurance, auto insurance, home insurance and vision care. It was quite apparent that vision insurance and dental insurance were their top sellers.

SafeGuard’s Products & Services:
As stated earlier, this company provides a complete list of insurance for a multitude of products. After spending some time on their site, it’s very apparent that vision insurance isn’t one of their top products. It was very difficult to find information on what discounts and benefits they offered for vision insurance. Unlike other sites we reviewed, it wasn’t clear if exams were covered, along with frames, lenses and contact lenses. They list monthly and yearly rates, but don't show what is covered and how much is covered. We did however find a statement that said they partner with providers to offer LASIK vision correction at a discounted price. Even with that information, we were unable to get more details and find out what type of discount is offered.

SafeGuard’s Help & Support:
Overall the site is extremely hard to navigate. Each section of phone numbers and addresses is clearly marked as claims, client support, dental, vision, customer service, etc. Phone numbers and addresses were the only forms of contact supplied. There are no email addresses or online email forms.

There is also a corporate profile page that gives some brief history about the company.

A feature we found to be a nice, added bonus on an insurance company’s site is vision wellness. They call that section of their website the Vision Healthcare Library. In this part of the site they provide articles on such topics as Guideline to Eye Exams, Preventing Eye Injuries is Easy, Take Care of Your Eyes, and What’s Up With Your Eyes. These articles are very informative and with any educational piece, give you an opportunity to become more knowledgeable about your eye health.

They do include a provider locator on their site. You can search by city, state, zip, provider name and language.

SafeGuard’s Member Resources:
It was difficult to retrieve information on their online account manager because an id/group number was needed in order to login. From what we could tell, you have the ability to access billing, claim status and enrollment information.

They do have an online application/quote form, if you can find it.
