Vision Insurance Plan of America Review

Helpful and comprehensive information about vision insurance company can make us get the best insurance for our vision health. But many good insurance companies out there, so we have to compare one to the other. Vision Insurance Plan of America, Inc. offers a selection of vision insurance plans and benefits. They have basic plans with not a lot of bells and whistles, and their site doesn’t provide a lot of thorough information about them or the insurance they offer. These are a few reasons why we didn’t find them to be one of the top online vision insurance carriers.

Vision Insurance Plan of America’s Products & Services:

This company offers four different benefit plan designs that can be either employer paid (full participation) or voluntary (employee paid). These four designs include: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. They offer coverage for examinations, frames, lenses and contact lenses. They offer two types of frequency options of 12 months or 24 months rate guarantee. There is a choice on deductibles of $0, $10, or $20, depending on what your company needs and/or can afford.

A really handy feature on this site is how detailed they get with their plan designs. The pros are that you can see exactly what you are going to get, what is covered and how much it will cost your company. The cons are that the plans are basic and structured; it's difficult to get a customized plan. So depending on your company's needs, they do offer some pretty competitive vision insurance plans.

Vision Insurance Plan of America’s Help & Support:

Many of the other sites we reviewed supplied a provider locator on their website. Vision Insurance Plan of America also includes a provider locator, but gives you three different ways to search for one, unlike the other sites that only had one way to search for providers. On this site you are able to search by zip code, city and state, and provider name or office. Just another handy way to find an eye doctor!

Their Contact Us page isn’t quite as detailed as some of the others we reviewed, but did list quite a few ways to contact them. They list the main office address, hours of operation, and local and toll free phone numbers. The email section lists two different departments, sales and operations, and under each section there are numerous email addresses for you to utilize for questions. They also include an online guide to common questions and answers. This is a great place to start if you encounter any snags in your research.

Vision Insurance Plan of America’s Member Resources:

The site doesn’t include a lot of account management tools, an online quote form or application. They have forms to use when submitting claims, but nothing available to check claim status, review benefits, etc. The broker/consultant section is named agents and doesn’t provide a lot of information either; very vague and not detailed enough to get much out of it.
